PROJECTS Video Traveler Timeline of Meritt Electronics and our first product, "The Original Mobile Video Traveler" 1997-98 Incorporated Ttirem, DBA Meritt Electronics. Ron Meritt develops the “Meritt Model” and applies it to a portable video system for use in cars. The first model is a 5” CRT (glass tube) monitor and Video Player in a bag that straps behind the front seat. In Q3 a new version with a 4” TFT flat panel monitor and video player was designed and shown at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
Ttirem signed a partnership with Steel Horse and immediately ramped up production and sold over 30,000 units to major retailers including Best Buy, K-Mart, Sky Mall, Sharper Image, Target, Fry's Electronics and several others. In this time several new models were introduced with larger and multiple screens. Screen sizes were offered in 4”, 5”, 7” and 10” models. 2000 Meritt Electronics partnered with Nissho Iwai America Corporation (NIAC), a $56 billion Japanese company to move forward with the Video Bag products.
NIAC and Meritt Electronics continued to grow the business and introduced a DVD version to the market. Customer accounts were expanded and now included Dodge and GM.
New DVD models are introduced, including a 15” model designed for GM. Dodge purchases approximately 30,000 DVD video bags as a “give away” with the purchase of a new Dodge Caravan.
Sales increase, Sam's Club purchases 80,000 DVD bags with dual 7” monitors.
Meritt begins working with inventors to bring their products to market using the now refined “Meritt Model”.
Meritt Electronics exits the consumer mobile video business late in the year and changes name to Meritt International. The company focus is changed to work with inventors bringing multiple products to various markets. The Meritt Model is born, and a partnership with Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, CA is established. Engineering development is started on 3 new products.
The first four products are scheduled for release in Q1, with two more products scheduled for release in Q3. Two additional new products are under consideration. For the protection of the inventors and in the interest of “First to Market” advantage, we do not disclose any products until they are officially announced to the public. |
